August 17, 2008 Archery Elk Hunt

Alright you all know how I feel about hunting :( but Weston came home after being gone only 2 days. When he walked in the house he was like a little kid in a candy store. He was so excited so I thought i would share his story. Weston wrote-Opening morning of the archery elk hunt Weston, Daniel, and Steve (pictured in that order in the group picture) got to their tree stands before first light. At 7:19 the first heard of elk moved by our stands with a bull near the back Steve took the 30-yard shot and it was true. Basking in the glory of his first bull elk with a bow didn't last long, 9 minutes later another heard of elk approached our stands from below and a nice 1 x 3 was at the back I, Weston, took the 20 yard shot and it was also true. In absolute disbelief in what just happened, 2 bulls in less than 10 minutes, we took a breath and started gathering our thoughts and were just about ready to get down and start tracking. At 8:23 before we could make our way out of our tree stands the trifecta another heard with another bull at the back. Daniel drew back and the shot was right on mark for his first bull elk as well. All this, 3 bull elk, in just over an hour. A very special thanks to Steve Sr. and Maggie (the horse) without them we wouldn't have survived the packing out. Needless to say this is a hunt we will never forget or be able to repeat...IT WAS INCREDIBULL!!!!!!

I'm not sure if I believe this. I don't see any elk.
